This video captures a magical moment! Barnaby Brown plays a reproduction of the ‘Louvre’ aulos beside the original, on loan from Paris, Musée du Louvre, Département des Antiquités égyptiennes (loan no. L2021-169). The pipe bodies are by Thomas Rezanka (2013). The reeds are in Arundo donax by Robin Howell (2016). The chromatic inflections are produced by small arm movements, rolling one pipe fractionally in or out of the lips, adjusting embouchure compression and reed placement.
